South East London ICB has six medicines optimisation teams who advise on the prescribing and safe supply of medicines, and work very closely with the GP practices, hospitals, community pharmacies, other local health providers and voluntary sector organisations across the six boroughs: BexleyBromleyGreenwichLambethLewisham and Southwark. ​

The borough Medicines Optimisation teams aim to improve health outcomes for the local people by using resources efficiently and where appropriate, supporting self-management. The teams provides: ​

  • A strategic overview for all healthcare services where medicines are part of the care pathway.​
  • Commissioning support to improve quality, safety and value for money in the use of medicines.​
  • Advice to clinical and non-clinical staff, patients and public directly.​

The Medicines Optimisation teams are part of and work closely with the South East London Integrated Medicines Optimisation Committee (IMOC).  This Committee includes key representatives from NHS organisations across South East London and provides advice and recommendations on important medicines related issues locally. ​
