We are delighted to announce the appointment of Michael Knight as the new Chief Information Security Officer for NHS South East London. Michael’s appointment is a demonstration of our commitment to working with all of the partners in our south east London system to improve the security, resilience and integrity of our digital systems. With the continued development and investment in new digital systems across south east London this will be a key role to bring together partners and ensure the safeguarding of our systems and maintaining trust in them.
Michael has worked in the NHS for 15 years in support of a number as ICS’s in the south of England, as well as at national level. He has joined us from NHS South, Central and West, where he was Chief Technology Officer. As a Chartered Healthcare Chief Information Officer and a Fellow of the British Computer Society, Michael worked with NHSX to define the Digital Technology Assessment Criteria, which is the basis of national criteria for digital health technologies used by the NHS in England. Outside work, Michael is also a board trustee of a Multi Academy Education trust that is responsible for the operation of nine schools.
He said: “I have been very impressed with the commitment of South East London ICB and the broader ICS to improve the security, resilience and integrity of its systems. I am excited by the opportunity to take a hands-on approach to this brand new role, working alongside colleagues and partners on the important job of safeguarding our systems, data and delivery of care to patients.”
