We are working with practices and partners across the health and care system to improve the data available to health and care professionals, NHS researchers and to organisations to better plan health and care.

The London Data Service is the next development in this area. The new service is NHS owned and managed, having been developed as part of the London Health Data Strategy.

Bringing data together in this way will further support health and care professionals, as well as teams such as Clinical Effectiveness South East London (CESEL), to access the information and insights needed to deliver better care to the people of South East London. This includes supporting Quality Improvement work, as well as the design and implementation of Integrated Neighbourhood Teams, a major part of the NHS Planning Guidance in 2025/2026.

In practice this means that health and care teams across London will have access to useful and easy to use tools and dashboards, which will help to better understand the needs of the local population. The services will also support service and care planning and research in a controlled and approved way.

Who has been involved and engaged?

There has been broad public and professional engagement in relation to this work, including a number of London level public events and extensive and continued involvement from the London-wide Local Medical Committee.
