Georgina Fekete joins NHS South East London ICB as Non-Executive Member

25 Nov 2024

Georgina Fekete will join NHS South East London Integrated Care Board as a non-executive member on 1 December 2024.

Georgina is a highly experienced leader, with over 25 years’ experience in health-related roles in organisations with international reach and impact, including the Forward Institute, United Nations, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation and the European Commission.

Her work has focused on tackling health inequalities and addressing the social and economic determinants of health. She has developed and delivered strategies to enable transformation through large-scale public health projects, and related systems, in the UK, Africa and Asia. She brings experience of working with politicians, policy makers, private sector leaders and civil society organisations, as well as extensive public engagement.

She says, “We know that there are major challenges facing the NHS, and health and care more broadly, both across the UK and in London in particular. Throughout my career I have been driven by creating a more equitable health system. I am excited by the opportunity to apply my experience by working with the NHS to contribute to the health and wellbeing needs of people in South East London.”

Sir Richard Douglas CB, Chair at NHS South East London, says, “As we look to the future of our NHS, and to further improving equity in health and wellbeing for the population of south east London, we can only benefit from bringing in leaders of the highest quality, with broad experience and perspective. So I am delighted to be welcoming Georgina to our Board. I know that she will make a significant and very positive contribution to our work here.”

Non-executive directors of our Integrated Care Board play a vital role in the oversight of our system. They help to set our overall direction, ensure that patients and the public have a powerful voice, and hold executive leaders to account for their collective performance.
