Lewisham Health and Care Partnership (LHCP) hosted an Integrated Neighbourhood Programme Market Engagement Event on Thursday 5 September. The event, held at the Civic Centre, was attended by key stakeholders from Lewisham Council, ICB, Lewisham and Greenwich Trust, South London and Maudsley, Healthwatch and Voluntary Community Sector leaders.

It was an opportunity for all partners to network, learn and celebrate work which is already taking place, review the system’s future goals, and get collective input on the development of the Lewisham Neighbourhood model.

Laura Jenner, Director of System Development at South East London ICS in Lewisham said: ”the stakeholder event was a great opportunity to reflect on ongoing elements of the programme, celebrate successful work and prepare for future steps. We received ideas from colleagues and key community members on how we can proactively support people to manage their health conditions and how we can integrate statutory and community support to provide tailed support to individuals. I’m pleased we got such a good attendance and honest conversation, and essential community involved in the future development of our Neighbourhood programme.”

After an introduction, the attendees explored each element of the programme through interactive stalls and presentations.

  • Population Health to Integrated Neighbourhood Teams
  • Multidisciplinary meetings and Integrated Neighbourhood Teams
  • Waldron Health and Wellbeing Hub
  • Neighbourhood 3 Community Partnership and Community Café
  • Health Inequalities

All attendees had the chance to share ideas for future development plans and network with community members, partners, and service providers.

Mottie Omideyi, co-Chair of the Lewisham Black Voluntary Network shared “It was very useful to have an overview of all the elements of the Lewisham Integrated Neighbourhood Programme and hear about all the work being carried out. On reflection, this meeting highlights the needs of strategic organisations and it also highlights what smaller organisations can provide. It is important to have these conversations to discuss how we can work better together, especially conversations between the strategic bodies and well established community groups that support and have the trust of their local communities.  On behalf of the Lewisham Black Voluntary Services Network, I am letting you know, we are here – we want to work with you to support our communities.”

Examples of ongoing projects were shared (Waldron Health Centre, Neighbourhood 3 Community Café) and a performance by the Red Ribbon choir added a community touch to the event.

Dr Helen Tattersfield, Clinical Director at Sevenfields PCN, showcased their Community Café project at the event: ‘The Appletree Café, located at Goldsmiths Community Centre, is a great example of how we can get closer to the community. The Café offers a variety of food, drinks and activities. The café is a place where community groups can meet, an opportunity to get information about local services and organisations and the starting point for healthy walks in the area’
