Celebrating Black History Month in South East London: Supporting Black-Owned Businesses at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals

17 Oct 2024
Black history month

In celebration of Black History Month, our colleagues at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals have been proudly showcasing a range of Black-owned businesses across both of their hospital sites.

Throughout the month, these pop-up stalls have featured an array of products, from hair accessories and handmade crafts to unique greeting cards, books, and toys. Visitors and staff have had the opportunity to buy and learn about different cultural items such as Shea Butter, fans, and Kente – a traditional Ghanaian textile known for its intricate hand-woven silk and cotton designs.

These stalls have provided a fantastic opportunity for patients, staff and visitors to support local Black entrepreneurs while encouraging south east Londoners to engage with African and Caribbean culture.
