Rich history
For the keen historians who have visited the London galleries one too many times, Bromley offers several lesser-known but fantastic historic attractions.
Down House, in Downe was the family home of Charles Darwin. Visitors can wander in the gardens and visit the rooms where he wrote his most famous book, “On the Origin of Species”. Bromley has had many other notable residents including David Bowie, H.G. Wells, Enid Blyton and many more.
Bromley is also home to a labyrinth of 13th century man-made caves 30 metres below the ground. Visitors can book a tour of the dark passageways at Chislehurst Caves and learn about the caves’ various uses over the years from an air raid shelter to a mushroom farm.

Parks and green open spaces
Bromley has over a hundred parks and green open spaces to explore.
Children and adults alike will be delighted with the dinosaurs at Crystal Palace Park. Keen golfers could try out the course at High Elms Country Park, or walk the dogs (and get your steps in) at Elmstead Wood, Keston Ponds and many more beautiful parks in the borough. The borough is also home to the beautiful nature reserve at Jubilee Country Park with 62 acres of wildflower meadows, hedgerows and semi-natural ancient woodland to explore.
Great Transport Links
With 26 railway stations, Bromley has fantastic transport links which enable you to get into Central London in under 18 minutes.
Night buses travel from Bromley to key locations such as Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square.
Bromley is close to the M25 so you can easily access the surrounding Kent countryside and further shopping centres such as Bluewater shopping centre.
There are also good road connections to key airports such as London City Airport, Gatwick and Heathrow
For the keen cyclist, there are more than 100 miles of cycle routes.
