Dr Mona Bafadhel, Respiratory Medicine Consultant will cover COPD. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a common chronic lung disease, affecting approximately 1 in 10 adults over the age of 40 in the UK. Exacerbations of COPD are punctuations in the disease process, associated with symptoms, morbidity and mortality risk. Understanding how inflammation can influence precision treatment in COPD and COPD exacerbations is a starting point to improve outcomes for patients with COPD.
