To mark Lung Cancer Awareness Month this November, South East London Cancer Alliance (SELCA) has launched the “Let Go of the Labels” campaign, a new initiative to break down common misconceptions about lung cancer. The campaign, created in partnership with the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, encourages everyone to stop associating lung cancer with age or smoking history. It aims to raise awareness that anyone with symptoms should take action and seek advice from their GP.

As part of the campaign, you may see out-of-home advertising in tube stations, bus stops, and roadside billboards, as well as paid social media ads targeting local residents.

Lung cancer is one of the most common and serious types of cancer. There are usually no signs or symptoms in the early stages of lung cancer, but many people with the condition eventually develop symptoms including:

  • a persistent cough
  • coughing up blood
  • persistent breathlessness
  • unexplained tiredness and weight loss
  • an ache or pain when breathing or coughing

Please see a GP if you have these symptoms.
