Twelve south east London initiatives, organisations, and leaders commended on the HSJ awards shortlist

The Health Service Journal (HSJ) has revealed the shortlist for its annual awards, which celebrate those delivering excellent service in health and care, improving patient outcomes and driving innovation in the sector. Twelve initiatives, organisations, and individuals in south east London have been named across the 26 categories.

The shortlisted initiatives, organisations, and people in south east London are as follows:

  • Clinical Leader of the Year: Waqas Akhtar from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust, and Lynnette Linkson from One Bromley
  • Driving Efficiency through Technology: South East London ICB for their work on improving primary care access through digital tools in south east London.
  • Innovation and Improvement in Reducing Health Inequalities: Mind & Body Programme | King’s Health Partners, Stockwellbeing PCN and Thriving Stockwell for the Pain: Equality of Care and Support in the Community (PEACS) project.
  • Medicines, Pharmacy, and Prescribing Initiative of the Year: South East London ICS for their work on Tackling Overprescribing using a whole systems approach.
  • Mental Health Innovation: South London Mental Health and Community Partnership – Oxleas, SLaM and SWLTStG NHS Mental Health Trusts in partnership for the SLP Adult Eating Disorders Programme – Community Enhanced Treatment Team and the SLP Complex Care Programme – no longer ‘Funded and Forgotten’.
  • Military and Civilian Health Partnership category: Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust Armed Forces Programme
  • NHS Race Equality Award: Lewisham and Greenwich Foundation Trust for the LGT EDI Action Plan 2022-24 and Mind & Body Programme | King’s Health Partners, Stockwellbeing PCN and Thriving Stockwell for the “Pain: Equality of Care and Support in the Community (PEACS)” project.
  • Patient Safety: Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust for their work with Mechanical Life Support
  • Provider Collaboration of the Year: South London Mental Health and Community Partnership – Oxleas, SLaM and SWLTStG NHS Mental Health Trusts in partnership for their project “SLP – Transforming specialist mental healthcare through collaboration not competition”
  • Workforce Initiative of the Year: Bromley Healthcare for their “Health Visiting Workforce Recruitment and Retention” Initiative.

The awards will be announced on 21 November 2024. In the meantime, congratulations to all who have been shortlisted. It is encouraging to see so much good work being recognised in south east London.
